1. What is included in the Guardhouse Tablet Panel?

Guardhouse Tablet Panel comes with a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 installed with i-Neighbour App Security Module, a DIY tablet stand and a phone receiver.

2. Where should the DIY Tablet holder be placed in the guardhouse to be of convenience and secure?

The DIY Tablet holder can be attached on a table at a guardhouse to prevent it from being stolen or vandalized.

3. If after all the tablet is stolen, what other measures being put to secure the information in the tablet?

The i-Neighbour App Security Module installed in the tablet is secured with Samsung Knox to protect the data from being stolen and to track the tablet in case of theft. On top of that, the missing or stolen tablet cannot be reset to factory settings, rendering the tablet useless to reuse or resell.

4. What features are available in the i-Neighbour App Security Module?

i-Neighbour App Security Module is loaded with useful features to smoothen security operations at the guardhouse. The features include:

a.  Visitor Management System to manage pre-registered and walk-in visitors check in and check out activities
b.  Directory is the neighbourhood’s contacts for security guards to be able to contact the residents when required.
c.  Panic Button Alert works to alert security guards via Guardhouse Panel Tablet. Whenever residents trigger the Panic Button during an emergency, and the tablet will keep on ringing until the security guard acknowledges the emergency event.
d.  Smart Access feature is for security guards to access to the access control points such as the barrier gates, lobby entrances or lifts, provided that access permission is given by the system administrator.
e.  Notice Board to alert security guards when announcements are posted by system administrator.

5. What should I do to prevent security guards from accessing other applications on this Guardhouse Tablet Panel, such as facebook or Instagram?

The i-Neighbour App Security Module is integrated with Samsung Knox that locks the tablet to prevents security guards from accessing other pages or Apps, except the intended ones.

6. Why i-Neighbour works with Samsung Knox for this Guardhouse Tablet Panel?

Knox is a multi-layered platform built into the hardware and software of Samsung's latest devices. Knox constantly verifies the integrity of the device through a chain of security checks that begin at the hardware level and extend to the operating system, and detects any tampering to ensure your data is always secure. Hence, with Knox the i-Neighbour App Security Module ensures that:

a.  Contact numbers of residents are hidden from the caller screen and the caller screen is customized to only consist of the Resident Name and Unit No. for the security guard to view.
b.  The Guardhouse Panel Tablet will be locked to prevent security guards from accessing other distracting apps, such as facebook, Google Chrome and YouTube.
c.  The tablet cannot be restored to factory settings rendering it useless for other purposes.

7. What are the advantages of i-Neighbour Guardhouse Panel Tablet as compared to a normal tablet? Why should I buy the tablet from i-Neighbour?

i-Neighbour Guardhouse Panel Tablet has been embedded with Optical Characteristic Recognition (OCR) for automatic data input via images and Samsung Knox for security. OCR is available in the Walk-In visitor registration form to automatically fill up visitor’s name and IC number during the scanning process of visitor identification i.e. Malaysian IC or driving license. Samsung Knox on the other hand is a multi-layered platform built into the hardware and software of Samsung's latest devices. Knox constantly verifies the integrity of the device through a chain of security checks that begin at the hardware level and extend to the operating system, and detects any tampering to ensure your data is always secure. Knox has been embedded in i-Neighbour to make sure that contact numbers of residents are hidden from the caller screen, instead only showing the Resident Name and Unit No. for the security guard to view. 8. Why is OCR important in i-Neighbour Guardhouse Tablet Panel?

OCR stands for Optical Characteristic Recognition, a program that converts physical images into electronic data. By having OCR in the tablet, it helps speed up the walk-in registration process by automatically filling up the visitor’s name and identification card number during the scanning of the visitor’s identification such as Malaysian identification card or Driving License. The technology does not only speed up the process, it also reduces human errors during the manual process of data entry.

9. What information is taken from the Visitor’s identification card or Driving License via OCR (Optical Characteristic Recognition)?

The technology scans the photo of the visitor’s identification card or Driving License to extract only the name and the identification card into the registration form. No other information will be taken by OCR from the identification credential provided.

10. Can i-Neighbour’s OCR read passport, foreign identification card or driving license?

No, it can’t. i-Neighbour’s OCR is only compatible with Malaysia identification card and Driving License for the time being. Any changes to the compatibility will be announced publicly for transparency.

11. Is Malaysian old identification card or driving license compatible with OCR?

No, i-Neighbour’s OCR only reads Malaysian new identification card or Driving License. However, security guards can still take a photo of Malaysian old identification card or Driving License and fill up the details required manually.

 Warranty
1. How long is the warranty for i-Neighbour Guardhouse Panel Tablet?

Samsung Tablet 10.1 and the phone receiver provided by i-Neighbour comes with a 1-year limited warranty.

2. What should I do if the tablet is not working?

You may contact i-Neighbour Support Team via info@i-neighbour.com or +60380709933. Our Support Team will arrange to replace a working Samsung Tablet 10.1 during the warranty claim process. The Samsung Tablet is warranted under normal use, against manufacturing defects for a period of 12 months warranty from the date of original purchase.
This warranty does not applicable to loss or damage to the equipment due to the following cases:

• Normal wear and tear of the equipment;
• Mishandling and improper maintenance of the equipment, and failure to obey operating instructions;
• Leaking batteries, sand, dirt or water damage;
• Electrical power surge, improper power and/or communication link connection, unstable power supply;
• Use of unauthorized parts or service by other than our authorized agents;
• Serial number and/or warranty sticker is altered or removed;
• Unauthorized modification, conversion or alteration to the equipment.

3. Can I get the tablet from somewhere else instead of i-Neighbour?

Yes, you may do so. i-Neighbour App Security Module works in any Android devices with Android version 4.3 and above. However, you might want to consider using i-Neighbour Guardhouse Tablet Panel because it has been integrated with Samsung Knox, to make sure that contact numbers of residents are hidden from the caller screen, instead only showing the Resident Name and Unit No. for the security guard to view. The tablet will be locked to prevent security guards from accessing other distracting apps, such as facebook, and the tablet cannot be restored to factory settings rendering it useless for other purposes.

4. I’m having problem with a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 in the i-Neighbour Guardhouse Tablet. Who should I call to claim for warranty, i-Neighbour or Samsung?

If you bought the tablet from us, please contact i-Neighbour Support Team through email at info@i-neighbour.com or you can call us at +60380709933. If the tablet is still covered by warranty, the i-Neighbour Support Team will replace a new tablet for you, subject to the terms and conditions in warranty. If you purchase the tablet from Samsung or its agent, please refer to Samsung Service Center directly.

1. Would i-Neighbour Guardhouse Panel Tablet entertain walk-in visitor registration?

Definitely. i-Neighbour Visitor Management System has been designed to cater to all kinds of visitors. Therefore, walk-in visitor registration is no exception. All walk-in visitors have to stop and register at the guardhouse before they are allowed access to the neighbourhood. The guards need to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure of the residential for walk-in visitors i.e obtaining approval from the unit number before giving access.

2. Can i-Neighbour Guardhouse Panel Tablet be integrated with an intercom system ?

The i-Neighbour Guardhouse Panel Tablet has been integrated with the readily available and FREE in-App Intercom feature for the security guards to call the residents for approval before providing them access to the neighbourhood.

3. Can the security guards have access to the contact numbers of residents?

No. The contact numbers of the residents will not displayed in the security guard's account for security and privacy purposes. The i-Neighbour Guardhouse Tablet Panel has been integrated with Samsung Knox, to make sure that contact numbers of residents are hidden from the caller screen, instead only showing the Resident Name and Unit No. for the security guard to view.

4. How does i-Neighbour protect the privacy of the residents to prevent the information from being taken or misused by the security guards?

The i-Neighbour Guardhouse Tablet Panel has been embedded with Samsung Knox to conceal the contact numbers of residents from the caller screen and the tablet also is locked to prevent security guards from accessing other distracting apps, such as facebook.

5. What should be installed at the guardhouse to deploy i-Neighbour Smart Community Solution within a neighbourhood?

To deploy i-Neighbour Smart Community Solution, a mobile phone SIM Card and i-Neighbour Guard House Panel are required for the guardhouse to carry out a secure and effective operation.
However, to better improve the security of a neighbourhood, i-Neighbour strongly recommend the items listed below to be installed at the guardhouse:


a.  Siren Kit - Siren Kit is integrated with the Panic Button feature in i-Neighbour Mobile App to set off the strobe light and the siren alarm when a resident triggers it. The LEP Panel of the Siren Kit will also display the Unit No. of resident who triggers the Panic Button.

b.  Epicamera - Epicamera (IP Camera) can be installed at the guardhouse for authorized parties such as management committee, security company to monitor the guards’ activities via i-Neighbour Mobile App.

c.  Smart Barrier Gate - i-Neighbour has 3 Smart Barrier Gate options: TimeTec BLE-2, UHF Long Range and License Plate Recognition (LPR). Smart Barrier Gate is developed to ease the management of residents’ access by reading the Bluetooth signal from the smartphone or tear-torn stickers placed at the windshield of the car in order for residents to access the compounds. What’s more, residents can even verify their identity and access the neighbourhood by letting the system reads the car number plate.

6. Can security guards check-in a visitor through walk-in registration without informing the resident?

The security guards can check-in the visitor without informing the resident, if the management does not require the security guards to call the residents for visitation approval. In case security guard does not call the resident to obtain the approval, the resident will also be notified when his/her visitor has been checked-in to the neighbourhood via Guardhouse Panel Tablet.

7. Can the walk-in registration be processed when the Internet is down?

Yes, visitor walk-in registration and checking in/out process can still be carried out using Offline mode when the the Internet is down. However, on offline mode, the live notification is not available. For example, when the visitor is checked-in, the resident will not be receiving a push notification immediately. Regardless, all information will be uploaded and saved in the cloud server, as soon as the Internet is available again.

8. What type of visitor information has to be filled up in the walk-in registration form?

As default, i-Neighbour only requires basic information of visitor such as Visitor Name, ID No. and Car Plate No. If the management wishes to ask for more information from visitors, i-Neighbour’s visitor registration form is customizable via i-Neighbour Web Portal.

9. Other than accepting Walk-In registration, can resident invite his/her visitors through i-Neighbour Mobile App?

Definitely and highly recommended. Residents can invite their visitors via i-Neighbour Mobile App. The invitation process is simple whereby you only need to fill up the Visitor Name(s) and expected arrival date/time. When you receive the Registration Form link and a QR code, you can send them to the visitor via various Social Apps i.e WhatsApp and etc. The Registration Form link is for the visitors to fill up their information before going to the guardhouse to avoid the long queue issue. For security purpose, security guards should double check the visitor’s information with his/her ID card.

10. If visitors are not comfortable in handing over their identity card, what other option does the security guards have?

The guard can ask for their driving license instead. The OCR (Optional Characteristic Recognition) integrated in the i-Neighbour Guardhouse Panel Tablet is compatible with Malaysian IC and Driving License only. Moreover, i-Neighbour system complies to the 7 principles of PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act). 11. Is group check-in allowed in the walk-in registration?

Yes, group check-in is allowed in the walk-in registration. Upon selecting group check-in, the security guard is required to enter the total number of visitors attached to the main visitor for security purposes.

12. Is visitor allowed to register for multiple In-Out or recurring visit type in walk-in registration?

No, multiple In-Out and recurring visit are not applicable in walk-in registration. Walk-in visitors are only provided with a One Time visit type entry pass only.
